We’ve grown from one store in Millwater Auckland back in 2015 to now 24 stores across the North Island, and the pace of growth is both rewarding and exhilarating. Ownership options

There are many different pathways to ownership because we understand everyone’s journey will be unique. Not being a barber or in the industry is no barrier to ownership, we welcome enquiries from all walks of life.  We’re keen to talk to motivated business leaders that have a passion for driving themselves and others to achieve job satisfaction and financial reward.

We are also committed to nurturing our barber talent. We've successfully converted independent barbers & hair salon owners into owning a BarberShopCo store and seen a dramatic change in returns on investment. We also undertake an Intern Programme where we develop barbers into senior barbers, team leaders and senior team leaders with the view that they will own their own store. 

For those not currently in the business, investment options vary depending on whether you are interested in a new store or an existing one. New stores and territories will have a lower investment range than a store that is in growth or yield phase. A store in the growth or yield phase will have an increased value due to goodwill and profitability in the store.

  • What qualities do I need to own a BarberShopCo store?

    We are looking for people who share our values, who want to work in the business, are passionate, have a desire to create results and can motivate & lead their team. It is essential that BarberShopCo owners believe in and respect our brand.

  • Do I need to be a barber or have industry experience?

    No, not at all, our franchisees come from a variety of industries, all with different experiences. You will be bringing your financial acumen, people skills and a passion to succeed. You will have all the support you need to recruit your team and the Home Office team are with you all the way.

  • What is the time commitment required to own a BarberShopCo store?

    Our expectation is that you work in the business as an owner-operator. You'll be hands on within the business for at least four days a week.  Our busiest days are Thursday to Sunday, so we expect owners to be driving and leading their team for the majority of these crucial days.  Our owners are the face of their business, so building relationships with their clients and their local community is key.

  • What will it cost to purchase a BarberShopCo store?

    Purchase costs will vary depending on the size of the store and location. Typically for a fully operational greenfields site it can cost between $135-165k for a store to open. 

    To purchase an existing store can vary between $200-$500k and is dependent on a number of factors including the length of the lease, the franchise agreement term, past performance, plant & equipment value and associated good will.

  • What do I get in return for my investment?

Operational, HR, Marketing and Finance functions are catered for within the BarberShopCo system.

  • What training will I receive?

    We provide a comprehensive training programme with the Home Office team that covers the day-to-day operations, our sales process, marketing, and recruitment. We’ll guide you through the early weeks when the store is opening, and on going opportunities include monthly Owners Meetings at Home Office, our Annual Conference and invitations to attend local and international industry events.

  • What options are there to help me finance a BarberShopCo store?

    Bank financing is often available to qualified purchasers. We will work with you to understand your position and help to find an appropriate pathway to ownership.

  • How Many Shops Can I own?

    Once you have your first shop up and running to the point where you can spread your time across another site you will then have the opportunity to look at expanding to more locations.

  • What locations are available?

    We are expanding across the country and there are opportunities in your neighbourhood right now. You may already have a location in mind and we can help you assess if the catchment area is viable based on the success of our current sites.

  • How much can I earn?
